The importance of a good generator installation.
|
The installation and location of your generator can effect your satisfaction, performance and installation cost.
|
Fuel SupplyThe generator needs an adequate supply of NG or LP. The closer to the fuel source the lower the cost to connect the generator. Generator shown is a 15kW Briggs & Stratton generator in East Cobb, GA.

Electrical InterfaceWhether installing a whole house or partial generator system, it is almost always more cost effective to be close to your electrical panels or service entrance and preferably near an unfinished part of the home. Generator shown is a 18kW Kohler generator system in Jasper, GA.

Location & Noise FactorWhile some generators are quieter than others, the location of the unit should always be taken into consideration. You may want to locate the generator away from windows, especially bedrooms. We always advise our customers on this important comfort factor when we make recommendations concerning the location of a generator. Generator shown is 15kW GE generator system in Atlanta, GA.

Site PreparationLarge liquid-cooled generators above 20kW require a concrete slab due to the size and weight of the unit. For smaller air-cooled generators, we frame the generator site area with 6”x6” treated timbers and fill it with pea gravel. This base helps cut down on vibration, noise, keeps the generator cleaner and above any surface water, and is more aesthetically pleasing than concrete.
